Tokyo, Japan – August 10, 2023 –The Japanese consultancy firm, QUNIE (NTT DATA Group; Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Shigeki Yamaguchi) today announced plans to participate in the FY2023 Carbon Footprint Product-Specific Calculation Rules Development Support to Promote GX Implementation project" publicly solicited by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, together with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, NTT DATA Group Corporation, NTT Advanced Technology Corporation, NTT TechnoCross Corporation, NTT COMWARE CORPORATION, Hitachi, Ltd, NEC Corporation, and Fujitsu Limited.

With an aim to promote decarbonization efforts in the software sector, which has primarily focused on hardware sector in the past, this project is designed to establish Japan’s first carbon footprint calculation rules for software, and to promote the visualization of CO2 emissions from software under the standardized calculation rules. Another goal is to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions throughout the global supply chain.
